Library Pro is out. After two years of building and three months of early access, version 1.0 is on your dashboard now.

Crazy that After Effects has never had a native media browser. Everything you reach for on every job, footage, audio, vectors, 3D models, brand colours and the comps you have already built, saved once and ready in any project. Now it has one.

What changed since early access

Quite a lot. The version most people have been running is a long way back, and almost all of this came out of people using it on real work and telling me what got in the way.

Motion graphics templates are in. Drag a .mogrt into a library and it gets a poster frame and plays on hover like anything else, then imports into your project ready to use. Square and vertical templates show at their real shape rather than buried in black bars.

You can drop in a zip or a folder now, not just loose files. Either one opens a review list first, so you see what is about to arrive, untick anything you do not want, and choose whether to keep the folder structure or flatten it. Drag in several folders at once if you like.

3D models bring their textures and geometry with them, so a GLTF arrives in your project complete instead of empty. Each one shows its format on the card, and a model in two formats gets two entries rather than quietly overwriting itself.

And it got faster where it mattered. Adding a few hundred images is several times quicker, WAV files land almost instantly, and big imports count up as they go instead of sitting on one message while you wonder whether it has crashed.

Thanks

Around 280 motion designers ran Library Pro on real projects through early access and told me what broke. A lot of 1.0 exists because of that, and some of it I would never have found on three machines of my own. If you were one of them, thank you, and your trial has been reset so you get a proper run at the finished build.

What it costs

Library Pro is $65, once. Not a subscription. Every 1.x update is included.

There is a 14 day trial if you want to point it at your own work first. No card, nothing to cancel.
